Bye Bye Standard Text Ads, Hello ETAs!

After 16 years of Standfard Text Ads, Google Adwords is about to introduce a major change.

31 January 2017 is the last day that you will be able to create and edit the familiar old Standard Text Ads.  That's the format with three lines of 25, 35, 35 characters - headline, description 1 and description 2.  That's not to say that they will disappear, just that you won't be able to create or edit any more.

New Google Partner Dynamic Badge - Stop The Cheaters

In another salvo against the scammers, Google released a new dynamic Partner Badge to all the companies who qualified to display it at the end of 2016.

Wax On, Wax Off - The Pain Of PPC

A few months ago, I was getting my legs defuzzed and, as she applied the hot wax to my left shin, I made the mistake of asking the salon owner how business was.

The look on her face was rather alarming.

'It's terrible, I've just got a bill for £3000  on my credit card from using Google Adwords'

And then she pulled ferociously... and I felt her pain too!

Google Adwords Mobile Certification

I've been studying at the weekend again. This time to gain the Google Adwords Mobile Certification.

In an age when:

smartphone and tablet adoption is increasing rapidly (US figures show from 36% in 2011 to 61% in 2013);

50% of mobile searchers purchase within the hour - either by calling or by moving to another device;  and

4 out of 5 consumers use search engines to find products, services or experiences that are nearby (most often within 5 miles of where they are located);

being able to offer a structured mobile ads option to our customers was a priority.

Google Partner Logo - Is Your Adwords Manager A Liar?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to have a rant about the Google Partner logo.

There are a lot of website designers, marketers and Adwords management companies out there who are displaying Google's Partner badge either incorrectly or without having the right to do so.

Does your supplier have the right to display the Google Partner logo?

The rules say that, if you have passed the Google Certification examinations AND you handle a certain amount of Pay Per Click budget - this figure is specified by Google - Google will let you know that you are eligible to display the Partner logo on your website.

Google Adwords Certified For Another Year

It was a long day but I watched all the videos, read all the study guides and caught up on the refresher notes and videos before undertaking two Google Adwords exams.

Google Adwords Certification - what's the crack?

In order to be Google Adwords certified into 2017, I had to pass the Adwords Fundamentals exam and then a second advanced exam. For me, that's on the Search platform but I could have taken the one on the Display Network, Mobile, Google Shopping or Video.
