Maximise Your Facebook Cover Images With A Call To Action

Here at Lollipop Local, one of the first things we show business owners is how to maximise the effect of their Facebook cover image by turning it into a click through.

But not many other folks are actually doing this.

So, introducing a new bright shiny thing from Facebook!

Custom Call To Actions on your Facebook cover image. Clickable buttons that will link through to a page on your website, a more mobile friendly page on your website or to a custom app.


These first began rolling out back in December and they have finally reached our main Lollipop Local page. Have you got yours yet?

Creating Facebook Cover Images with a Call To Action

So, here's how it works.

Click on the Create Call To Action button


Choose which call to action you want to use:

  • Book Now
  • Contact Us
  • Use App
  • Play Game
  • Shop Now
  • Sign Up
  • Watch Video

Complete the URL of the page or app that you want it to link to

Make sure that it fulfils on the promise in the call to action. There is no point in saying Book Now and sending people to a page that does not allow them to book a place on a workshop or local event. There is no point in saying Watch Video if the landing page does not show a video. You get the idea?

Click Next

On the next screens, you get the chance to select a website or app specifically for iPhones/iPads and Android mobile phones. Make sure that wherever you send these mobile users, the experience is designed for mobile.

Click Create

You will also be able to monitor how effective it is in the stats panel to the right. This will show how many times your button has been clicked in the last seven days.
