How Can I Stop Events From Appearing Automatically In My Google Calendar

Looking at my Google Calendar recently, I realised that there were events there which I had not accepted. In some cases, I wasn't even aware that they were happening!

It was like having someone put stuff into your diary that you didn't want to do.

But how to stop these events from appearing automatically in my Google Calendar?

google calendar settingsFirst of all you need to access Settings in your Google calendar.

At the top right, underneath your profile picture, you will see a little cog with a drop down menu.

Hover over that and you will see the clue 'Settings'. Click on that and the drop down menu will appear. Settings should be the fourth option.

Click Settings.

Scroll down until you see 'Display Events that you have declined'. It is set to Yes by default. Click on the little circle next to No.

The next option down should be 'Automatically add events to my calendar' Click on 'No, only display invitations to which I have replied'
