How Do I Make Someone An Admin Of My Facebook Business Page - Updated For May 2017

by Jo Shaer, on January 15, 2016

It's always a good idea to have more than one Admin of any Business Page on Facebook.

Suppose you are unable to get to your computer and someone puts something unpleasant onto your wall? You want someone else to be able to remove it pronto.

What if Facebook decides to close your account for some reason? If someone else is also an Admin, then you will not lose access to your Page.

But, how do I make someone an Admin?

It's a question I get asked a lot - so, rather than trying to explain with my hands, here's a step by step guide.

Make a Facebook Admin

First of all they have to have liked your Page as themselves - that means using their Personal Profile.

add an admin to my facebook business page

Next you go to the navigation panel above your cover image and select Settings.

In the left hand sidebar, you will see the option for Page Roles.

Click that and you will see yourself listed as an admin with an option to Add Another Person.

Add the name or email address of the person you want to make an admin into the box provided.

Select the Permission level - scroll down to see more information about which one to choose.

And then click the blue Save button. You will be asked to re-enter your password.

Once the person has received and accepted the invitation to become a Manager/admin of your Page, they will be able to access your Page from their own personal profile.

NEW FOR 2017 - the person you make an Admin will need to be friends with the Admin who invites them.

What Can The Different Levels of Admin on Facebook Pages for Business Do?

Facebook have been at it again and changed the Page Roles. We now have Page Admins back again rather than Page Managers and the process is called Manage Page Roles rather than Manage Admin Roles.

Admin is the top one with full rights, who can

  • Manage Page roles and settings
  • Edit the Page and add apps
  • Create and delete posts as the Page
  • Respond to and delete comments and posts on the Page
  • Send messages as the Page
  • Create adverts
  • View insights and
  • See who posted as the Page

Editor has replaced Content Creator. They can do everything an Admin can do except Manage Page roles and settings.

A Moderator can

  • Respond to and delete comments and posts on the Page
  • Send messages as the Page
  • Create adverts
  • View insights
  • and See who posted as the Page

An Advertiser can create adverts, view insights and See who posted as the Page

And an Analyst can view insights and See who posted as the Page.

What Happens Once I've Appointed Another Admin?

Once you have added their details, you will be asked to input your password to confirm and then you should see their face appear on this screen. They will then receive a notification from Facebook that they have been made an Admin of the Page and it will appear in the dropdown menu activated by the arrow next to the Home tab at the top right of their personal profile.

Make Sure Your New Admin Is Using Facebook Effectively

Now you've got another Admin to share the load, they also have to share the responsibility. So, to make sure your other admin is using Facebook effectively, share this handy post with them!
