Stop Suggested Videos From Other People Showing On Your Embedded YouTube Videos
by Jo Shaer, on July 26, 2012
I spent a long time putting together the perfect video on Animoto, uploading it to my YouTube account and then embedding it on my blog.
So I was not terribly happy to discover that, when it had finished playing, it showed a whole screen full of videos on similar subjects from other people. The goal here is to keep readers entertained with interesting posts on my site, not send them off to other people willy nilly.
Sure, if there is something that I have seen and really enjoyed, I am quite happy to share and link to their content. But I don't want to send people to stuff that I have not had a chance to vet for its quality.
How to stop suggested videos showing when video has finished
But there is an answer! If you go into your video on YouTube and then click the 'Share' button below it, you will see the option to 'Embed'. Click this and a dropdown will appear with the code to embed your video onto your website. But, if you don't want it to finish with a screen full of suggested similar content, you uncheck the box that says 'Show Suggested Videos When Video Has Finished'.
This then adds rel=0 to the embed code that you copy and paste onto the your site.
Bob's Your Uncle as they say.
