When Google really is calling...

by Jo Shaer, on June 27, 2012

I have written before about scammers emailing or ringing up pretending to be from Google or Facebook.

I have also written about Indian SEO salespeople - or if I haven't yet, I meant to since they seem to email or telephone me on a regular basis.

So it was very alarming to read this post from Mike Blumenthal about a situation where it really was Google using an Indian call centre to verify details on Places/Plus Local.

Like many of us, the receptionist thought she recognised a scammer and put the phone down - only to have their Google Plus Local listing disappear overnight.

You have been warned!
