Why Won't Images Show In Some of my Mailchimp Newsletter Emails?

by Jo Shaer, on September 22, 2012

So here was a very frustrating problem. I was sending out an email campaign on the autoresponder, Mailchimp for a client. I had produced some tests before pressing the button to publish it to their entire database. On my yahoo email, it looked fabulous with lots of coloured pictures.

But the client could not see any of them. Just the text.

Searching through Mailchimp, I found this piece about how it was impossible to guarantee that every email would look exactly as you have produced it in your Mailchimp dashboard because of the huge variety of email clients and their various display settings.

What they neglect to mention is that there is a little box at the very top right of their templates which says 'If this email is not displaying properly, view it in your browser' with a link that allows the email to appear in all its glory in a new tab via the browser.

Just ensure that a message with the link is displayed at the top of your email message - something like 'If you cannot view the images in this message, please view it using your browser'

That seemed to do the trick for us.
